Celtic defender rushed to hospital

Bloemfontein Celtic suffered a major blow this week when key defender Johannes “Tornado” Motlhaping was rushed to hospital by ambulance after he had suffered a terrible leg fracture at training on Thursday afternoon.

The gangling defender underwent an ankle and shin operation three months ago and has been on crutches for a number of weeks. And only three weeks ago, following intensive rehabilitation did he start training with the rest of the team.
But during a training match against an amateur team in Bloemfontein on Thursday, Motlhaping went for an aerial ball and when he landed, twisted his leg awkwardly and cried out in pain.
“When the technical staff rushed to his aid,” said our source, “they realised that his leg was broken. The medical staff did everything possible to ease his pain and called the emergency number.
“Fortunately an ambulance arrived within 10 minutes and he was rushed to hospital. Even if we have not yet received an official diagnosis of his injury, it looked so bad that I have a feeling his season is over, he’s unlikely to play any time soon.”
Celtic lost 2-1 to SuperSport United last week and have no official fixture this weekend due to the Telkom Knockout Cup semifinals.
