Ex-international Henry Nwosu has expressed his readiness to assist Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia once called upon to do so.
An assistant to former Super Eagles coach Adegboye Onigbinde and former Under-23 handler Samson Siasia respectively, Nwosu told SuperSport.com in Lagos on Thursday that having served the nation creditable as a player he would always see any other form of service as call to duty.
“Of course, yes, I still have it in mind. I assisted coach Onigbinde in 2002, I assisted Siasia in 2008 and I am still ready to assist him (Siasia) if I am called upon to do that again. It is my country, football is something I love doing and I will be ready at any time to serve this country.”
The former Green Eagles captain who linked his readiness to serve to his believe that Siasia represents the aspiration of the local coaches explained that success or failure of the former Under-20 coach will have similar direct effect to his colleagues hence the need to rally round him.
“Nigerians clamoured for Siasia and we have him now, I will support him even if I am not his assistant just the way I supported him in his days as Under-23 coach. Even now I am ready to assist him, to help him because if he does well it is for Nigerian coaches, if he fails it is Nigerian coaches, so that is why we would give him support to succeed.”
On the contentious code of conduct the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) wants him to sign, the newly elected vice president of the Nigeria Olympians Association (NOA) said he believes in Siasia not to put pen on paper on any document that will gag him in his work.
“Siasia is a professional; he knows he should not sign any paper he is not sure of. Anything that will disturb his day to day activities he will not sign it. I know him and know that he will not be forced into doing what he does not want to do,” he said.
