El-Kanemi Warriors first-choice goalkeeper, Itodo Akor, is confident that the team can make a return to the elite class.
Akor, who had a stint at Egyptian second division side, Itesalat, said the club has made the right recruitment to challenge for promotion.
“El-Kanemi belongs to the Nigeria Premier League and the players are working hard to ensure the club gets back. I’ve spent three seasons here, but the present squad is certainly stronger. It’s a mix of the right players to turn things around,” he told SuperSport.com on Thursday.
The goalkeeper commended the club’s management for recruiting experienced players to boost the youngsters in the team.
“We have some players who have played in the Premier League. Edward Weng has played for most of the top teams and he’s experienced.
“The duo of Isaac Adesina and Joshua Eke have equally strengthened the team. So we are set to make a bang in division one. We want to be in the history books of the club. This is our time,” he stated.
Akor noted that the postponement of the league would give the Francis Obinwe led technical crew more time to fine-tune the squad ahead of the promotion battles with other contenders.
