Ngubane kick out players due to ill discipline

National First Division Coastal Stream side Thanda Royal Zulu did not hesitate to crack the whip on wayward players this week and uncompromising coach Mlungisi “Professor” Ngubane seems to have found the right formula in their quest for PSL promotion.
Former Lamontville Golden Arrows right back Sakhile Mhlangu and ex-Bush Bucks and Nathi Lions winger Manelisi Gomoshe have been kicked out of the Thanda camp in the picturesque Richarsdbay following acts of ill-discipline.
Our deep throat revealed that since the management has pumped in lots of finances into the team to ensure that Ngubane moulded a formidable team that will regain the club’s Premiership status, they swiftly discarded the two players fearing that they could be the proverbial rotten apple that spoils the whole bag.
“The behavior of the two guys has been discouraging to say the least,” said our source adding that “much as the coach badly wanted them in the team, his hands were truly tied when management discovered their acts of ill discipline and he was left with no option but to pull the trigger.”
Team manager Peter Kotroulis made it clear to the players at the beginning of the season that acts of misconduct will not be tolerated when they fired goalkeeper Nascent “Mayoyo” Nkwashu (ex-Mpumalanga Black Aces) after he pitched up at a training session reeking of alcohol.
When contacted for comment, Ngubane was initially reluctant to discuss the latest developments in the Amabhubesi camp that forced him to crack the whip but eventually admitted that his hand was forced into taking the action he did.
“Yes it is true that we chased away the said players because their behavior was increasingly becoming intolerable,” said Ngubane. “I am hurt because when I signed them up, I thought they would give their all and fight for the team. There is no way I would have been able to work with them after the embarrassment they caused to me and the team,” added Ngubane.
The former Bush Bucks ball juggler revealed that he was impressed with the progress the team was making following a shaky start to the season.
Thanda have amassed 16 points from nine games and maintained their second spot on the eight-team division after registering a hard-fought 1-0 win over FC Cape Town in the Mother City last Saturday.
Ngubane said they were hoping to close the one-point gap enjoyed by log leaders Bay United when they visit Carara Kicks in the Free State next Saturday.
Bay, led by former Santos mentor David Bright, have a date with fifth-placed Nathi Lions in KwaMashu next Saturday.
