Mabizela denies interest from PSL clubs

A man who has been over the mountain and back again to face his personal demons but has been in such scintillating form that he is now the subject of a possible transfer to several top clubs in the country has pleaded with everyone to allow him to focus on his game.

Mbulelo Mabizela is a typical bad-boy of local football following a series of off the field misdemeanors that first surfaced at Tottenham Hotspur after he had won a dream move to White Hart lane but messed it all up with his love for the night life and imbibing in the forbidden waters.
But after he was written off and even Mamelodi Sundowns had also given up on him, the former Bafana Bafana captain has picked himself up and has been a sturdy influence in the heart of the Platinum Stars defence under the guidance of Owen da Gama, so much that there is now speculation Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United are considering bringing him to their respective camps.
“I am totally surprised by the latest rumors,” said Mabizela on Thursday, denying ever to have been approached by any of the teams reported to be interested in him, adding that he only wanted to put his past behind him and concentrate on getting fit and re-establishing himself in domestic football.
“And if I have not been approached,” added Mabizela, “then it means those rumors are not true. I am committed to Platinum Stars and wishes to inform our supporters that I will honor my contract here.”
Mabizela’s contract expires at the end of June but there had been strong rumors linking him with a possible move back to Pirates while SuperSport are rumored to be looking at him as a possible replacement for Bongani Khumalo who has signed a contract with ironically – Tottenham Hotspur – and departs in December to start his new career at White Hart lane.
Although SuperSport United has denied ever thinking about bringing Mabizela to Pretoria, central defender Morgan Gould has been widely reportedly in the local media urging the former Bafana Bafana captain to consider reviving his career with the defending champions.
“I honestly do not understand where all these rumors are coming from,” said Mabizela. “Like I say, I have not yet received any offer from these clubs. I am contracted to Platinum Stars. I am trying to focus and bring back my form. I am coming back from a serious injury. Agreed I have fully recovered but I am still working hard,” he said.
